funky town
I’ve been out and about a lot lately and spent a minimum amount of time at home. I did have this one home-day because everybody (including me) was too hungover and too tired to do anything. I had a Skins-marathon and ate a lot, leaving my bed only to a) switch the lights on/off b) get more food c) go to the toilet.
I’d say it’s a good series. most of the characters annoy me though, especially Sid and Cassie. I think I like Michelle the best. anyway, there’s this one scene that’s so awesome, it’s in Season 2, Episode 9, where Cassie is taking an exam and talks to the woman supervising her about power and their problems in life.. whatever. anyway, it goes like this:
Cassie: I fell in love..
Teacher: Ah! Love! Why cut yourself when you can be in love?
Cassie: You think passing an exam will make me happy?
Teacher: Cassie, passing exams generally only makes life more complicated. But there’s lots of other stuff that makes things bearable and you don’t even have to use a knife.
Cassie: Like?
Teacher: Disco!
And she switches on the stereo on the table and it’s blasting Lipps Inc’s “Funkytown” and it’s just awesome :D in french I’d say “ca veut rien dire!” but I can’t find a correct expression for that in english. “its so random” maybe? I’d maybe like exams if they were like that.
